The South African context
Why it matters here
Many South African organisations hold years of valuable data spread across spreadsheets, legacy systems and cloud apps. Bringing it together safely is the first step to better decisions — and to AI.
AI depends on data
As AI adoption accelerates, the organisations getting value are the ones with clean, connected and well-governed data. Models are only as good as what feeds them.
POPIA covers the whole lifecycle
Collecting only what you need, keeping it only as long as necessary, securing it (section 19) and reporting breaches to the Information Regulator (section 22) all depend on knowing where your data lives.
Skills are scarce
Experienced data engineers are in short supply locally. Well-designed, documented and automated platforms reduce dependence on a few key people and let business teams serve themselves.

FAQs
Questions we often hear
Our data is in spreadsheets and old systems. Can you work with that?
Yes — that is where most projects start. We connect to what you have, clean and standardise it in automated pipelines, and phase out manual steps over time.
Do we need a data warehouse or a lakehouse?
It depends on your data volumes, data types and how you plan to use it. We recommend the simplest architecture that meets your reporting and AI needs, and that your team can run.
Which BI tool do you use?
We work mostly with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, which fit naturally with the Microsoft 365 tools many South African organisations already use. We can also work with other tools you have in place.
How do you keep the data trustworthy?
Automated quality checks, clear definitions for key metrics, and named owners for each data set — so everyone reads the same numbers the same way.
